A shower means so much more than getting clean. It brings joy, refreshment, renewed confidence, and a moment to feel human again. For so many of our guests, it’s a fresh start and a reminder that they are seen, loved, and valued.

This is one of the many reasons we do what we do at ShowerUp Tampa Bay. 🧡

It’s more than a shower. It’s dignity. It’s hope. It’s love in action. And sometimes, it’s a song of joy as someone steps out feeling refreshed and renewed! 🙌

We are incredibly grateful to the Community Foundation Tampa Bay for believing in ShowerUp Tampa Bay and investing in the work we do in our community! ❤️

Today was such a special day as we received our very first grant check. We are beyond thankful for everyone who took time out of their day to come out, celebrate with us, and witness what ShowerUp is all about.

October 18 will mark three years of ShowerUp Tampa Bay serving our community, and in those three years, we have been blessed to provide more than 7,000 showers to people in need.

This grant means so much to us because it is the first grant we have ever received. It is an incredible reminder that the work we are doing matters and that our community believes in the mission of bringing dignity, hope, and a fresh start to those we serve.

We are completely overwhelmed with gratitude for the Community Foundation, for this incredible support, and for every person who has stood beside us along the way.

We pray that this is just the beginning. We hope to continue receiving grants, donations, and community support so that we can keep showing up, serving others, and providing a safe place for people to shower, feel refreshed, and be reminded that they are seen, loved, and valued.

We love being able to partner with amazing churches and organizations who serve our community with all their heart. ❤️The Way Center

We get to come alongside them and add dignity to the hope they’re already providing.

Today, they provided haircuts, food, and even free vacations for our friends in need, while we provided a safe, refreshing place to shower. 🚿

It’s beautiful to see what happens when we come together—each one bringing what we can to remind people that they are seen, valued, loved, and worthy of dignity.

I love our volunteers! ❤️

They don’t just come to serve at a table—they come to serve our friends in whatever needs they may have.

Sometimes, it’s as simple as tying someone’s shoe when they’re unable to do it themselves. It may seem like a small thing, but to that person, it can mean so much.

Sometimes, serving isn’t just about giving someone a shower. It’s about seeing the need beyond the dirt. It’s about seeing the person, listening to their story, restoring dignity, and reminding them that they are seen, loved, and valued.

That’s what our volunteers do. They bring more than a clean shower—they bring hope, dignity, and love. ❤️

Today at our Clearwater event was such a beautiful day! 💙

We provided 18 cool, refreshing showers and were also blessed to have haircuts available for our friends in the community. 🚿✂️

And this is Rosa. ❤️ She was so happy and grateful for the opportunity to shower, get refreshed, and feel cared for. She wanted to share just how thankful she was.

Moments like this remind us why we do what we do. It’s not just about a shower—it’s about dignity, kindness, connection, and reminding someone that they are seen, loved, and valued.

We are so grateful for everyone who helps make these moments possible. What a great day serving our friends in Clearwater! 🙏🏼

Today, a new friend stopped by ShowerUp for the very first time to take a shower. ❤️

She had been visiting a church in the area, but she felt like people weren’t getting close to her because she smelled. Someone suggested that she come to ShowerUp, so she stopped by this afternoon.

We were able to provide her with an amazing opportunity to shower, along with clean clothing that happened to be in the truck, a hygiene kit, a fresh towel, and clean underwear. She was so thankful.

When she stepped out of the shower, she hugged me, and I told her, “You smell amazing!” Her face lit up. 🥹

She was planning to return to the evening service, and she was so happy knowing that she could be around others without feeling self-conscious about how she smelled.

Sometimes, a shower provides more than cleanliness. It restores dignity, confidence, and hope. ❤️

This is Rex. ❤️

Rex gets around in his wheelchair by using his feet. Because it takes him so long to travel, he rarely makes it to any events on time.

At our last event, we had already finished serving and were packed up, getting ready to leave, when we spotted Rex in the distance.

He was slowly inching his way toward us. We didn’t realize he was trying to make it to a shower.

Just as he reached the front of our truck, his eyes filled with tears. He told us, “I never make it on time.”

My husband and I looked at each other and knew what we needed to do.

We opened one of the shower suites back up, hooked everything up again, placed a chair inside, and helped Rex get settled so he could enjoy a nice, cool shower.

He was so impressed by the comfort of the shower suite and, most of all, by the love he received. He enjoyed every moment of his shower—and what made him especially proud was that his feet were clean. ❤️

We gave him plenty of fresh socks, a new sleeping bag, and cleaned up his wheelchair. The church we partnered with also provided him with food.

This is what it’s about.

Sometimes it means closing up late. Sometimes it means doing a little more. Sometimes it means leaving the 99 for the one.

Rex reminded us why we do what we do. Every person matters. Every person deserves to feel seen, loved, respected, and cared for.
