We’re excited to announce that Maggie Jensen will be joining us as the new Farm Manager... starting today!
Maggie graduated from Eckerd in 2011 with a major in visual arts and, while a student, was one of the founders of the original student garden that became the Eckerd Farm two years ago. Following graduation, she went into organic production, founding the Euclid Heights Community Garden, teaching organic production at Academy Prep Middle School, designing and managing organic gardens for popular farm to table restaurants in St Pete, and more!

We are lucky to have her back on campus, bringing her broad expertise and deep understanding of the college to our unique liberal arts farm.
This summer, she will be working with three student interns on cover crop maintenance, keeping the weeds at bay, and crop planning for the fall and spring. If you see her on campus, don't hesitate to introduce yourself. Please help us welcome, Farmer Maggie!

Eckerd's Women in STEM Club and the St. Pete Center for Civic Engagement and Social Impact partnered to invite groundbreaking microbiologist, first female director of the National Science Foundation and author of memoir-manifesto A Lab of One's Own, Rita Colwell, Ph.D., to talk about the entrenched sexism in science, the elaborate detours women have taken to bypass the problem, and how to fix the system.
