We have some incredible news to share! Our Founder and Executive Director, Christy Vogel, has been named one of ten 2026 L'Oréal Paris Women of Worth honorees! ✨

This national recognition celebrates women making an extraordinary difference in their communities, and we're so proud to see Christy's work with Sounding Joy recognized.

Christy founded Sounding Joy because she knows firsthand what it's like to grow up without the hearing aids you need. Her own experience inspired a mission to help kiddos across Florida receive hearing aids when their families cannot afford them.

With this honor, Sounding Joy receives a $25,000 grant from L'Oréal Paris, enough to provide up to 25 hearing aids for kiddos ❤️

We're incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported Christy and Sounding Joy along the way. This recognition celebrates the work she's dedicated herself to and the children and families at the heart of it.

Kids with hearing loss rarely say anything about it

A lot of them do not know anything is different, because this is how hearing has always worked for them. So they adapt. They read lips, they watch faces, they follow what everyone else is doing, and they get good enough at it that the adults around them never think to check.

Our Founder and Executive Director, Christy Vogel, recently visited Tampa East Sertoma Club to share her personal hearing loss journey and the story behind Sounding Joy ❤️

We were especially honored to have Patti Sánchez Rodríguez in attendance. Patti, a Deaf author and consultant, was specifically invited to hear Christy’s presentation, which was interpreted into American Sign Language by Patti’s interpreter.

Patti has spent more than 15 years advocating for employment opportunities for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals. She works with employers to build a better understanding of Deaf culture and create workplaces where Deaf professionals have access to meaningful careers, and she is the author of Breaking Barriers, a guide for organizations on inclusive hiring.

Thank you, Rotary Club of Dunedin Florida, for welcoming our founder Christy Vogel to your meeting this week ❤️

Christy Vogel spoke with the club about Sounding Joy and the kiddos we serve across Florida. Many people are surprised to learn how much hearing shapes a child’s life, and that hearing aids can cost up to $8,000 a pair with little help from insurance. Conversations like this one help more people understand why our work matters.

The Rotary Club of Dunedin has served its community since 1947, and we’re so grateful for the chance to connect with people who care this deeply about their neighbors.

Sometimes sharing your story opens the door for someone else to share theirs. ❤️

Last Sunday, our Founder and Executive Director, Christy Vogel, had the opportunity to speak with the women of Delta Zeta (Delta Beta) University of Tampa.

Christy shared what it was like growing up with hearing loss, from discovering she was hard of hearing at 11 years old to finally receiving her first hearing aids at 27.

For years, she thought she wasn't as smart or capable as the people around her. It wasn't until she received her hearing aids that she realized how much she'd been missing.

It's an experience that eventually inspired her to create Sounding Joy, so children facing similar financial barriers can get the hearing care they need.

But what made Sunday's visit especially meaningful was what happened after Christy shared her story.

One of the women approached us afterward to talk about her own experience with hearing loss. Others took the time to email us and share their stories, too.

We were so touched by those conversations and grateful that they felt comfortable opening up to us. ❤️

Hearing health has been central to Delta Zeta's philanthropy for decades, making our new collaboration with the The University of Tampa chapter a natural fit.

Thank you to the women of Delta Zeta for such a warm welcome and for the conversations that made this visit so special.

There's one day we never get tired of celebrating ❤️

We call it Approval Day, and this week it belonged to three kiddos. Makinley, age 13, Frania, age 7, and Landon, age 5, were all approved through Sounding Joy and are now working with our provider partners at Tampa Children's ENT and Pinellas County Schools Audiology toward their appointments.

Three different ages, three different stories, and the same exciting chapter ahead for all of them.

Every Approval Day exists because this community shows up for children who need us. Thank you for making days like this possible ❤️

Christy Vogel spent her school years being underestimated. Now a university invites her back every semester ❤️

She was 11 when she learned she was hard of hearing, though she had likely been living with it for years. Without hearing aids she pieced conversations together through lipreading, facial expressions, and whatever sound she could catch, and because that took her an extra second, people decided she was not very capable. Her family could not afford hearing aids, so she kept going without them.

Our Founder and Executive Director recently returned to University of South Florida St. Petersburg for another Networking 101 session with Dr. Jay Civitello's sales and marketing students. He gives them 48 hours to research whoever is coming to speak, so by the time Christy walks in, a room full of students already knows her career and wants to hear from her.

Every kiddo we serve is somewhere in the first half of that story. This is what the other side can look like ❤️

Kristen is a Director on our board and the President of Thompson Marketing Partners, where she has spent nearly a decade helping businesses across Tampa Bay figure out how to tell their story well. She brings that same thinking to our work, and we are lucky to have her.

Meet Lorick ❤️

He is 8 years old, he has new hearing aids, and he is officially part of the Sounding Joy family.

Lorick was recently fit by our Preferred Provider partners at Tampa Children's ENT. At 8, almost everything a kid needs to keep up with is happening out loud and moving fast, and none of it slows down for someone who is missing pieces of it. Now he is not missing any.

Every fitting is a reminder of why access matters. When a child needs hearing aids, cost should not be what keeps their family from moving forward.
