🚗💸 ST. PETE JUST MADE YOUR PARKING MISTAKES 86% MORE EXPENSIVE! 😭

As if circling Central Avenue looking for a parking spot wasn't already enough of a headache, St. Pete City Council just approved higher parking fines, and your wallet might want to hear about this one! 👀

On October 15th City Council unanimously voted to raise expired meter tickets from $17.50 to $32.50, an 86% increase! And if you live in an area that requires a residential parking permit, those fees are doubling too💰

The city's reasoning? Higher fines could encourage people to move their cars sooner, freeing up parking for downtown businesses and visitors. And sure, nobody loves a car taking up the same spot all afternoon. Between grabbing dinner on Central, shopping at your favorite local businesses, or spending an afternoon near the waterfront, downtown is already getting pretty expensive. Now even forgetting to feed the meter could cost almost as much as your lunch 🍔

There's a fair argument for keeping parking spaces available, especially for small businesses that depend on customers being able to find a spot. But charging people more doesn't magically create additional parking spaces. And for residents paying more just to park near their own homes? That's a whole different conversation.

🥯Pete’s Bagels just made a BIG move in Grand Central👀

And ONLY four blocks away bringing a whole lot more room! Pete’s officially opened its new flagship at 1900 1st Avenue South, taking over the former Good Intentions space and giving one of St. Pete’s favorite bagel spots the bigger home it has been needing. More seating, a larger kitchen, more room to hang out, and hopefully a little less wondering where you are supposed to eat after surviving the weekend bagel rush 😂

But longtime Pete’s people are getting something else back too. Pete’s General Store is making a comeback, bringing a piece of the original Historic Uptown concept back into the mix. 🛍️🥯 The team is even teasing the possibility of brunch in the future which could make Grand Central weekend mornings considerably more dangerous for our wallets 💁‍♀️❤️

Pete’s started here in St. Pete in 2019 and has grown into multiple locations across Tampa Bay, but there is something pretty cool about watching a local business get bigger without leaving the neighborhood that helped build it 🥯
