The official Call for Abstracts & Posters for the 5th Annual Florida Harm Reduction Conference has begun! You can make your submission via the link on the flyer, or just visit our website www.FLHRC.org & click on the Call for Abstracts & Posters image. You can also submit via the link on our profile. The deadline is 9/30/26 & decisions will be announced by 11/1/26. Presentations should align with the conference theme of harm reduction and its related sub-topics (e.g., substance use, public health, harm reduction policies, harm reduction in under-represented communities, overdose prevention, HIV/Hepatitis C prevention, etc.). We also welcome submissions from students & folks new to harm reduction.

Observed each year, Southern HIV/AIDS Awareness Day shines a spotlight on the disproportionate impact of HIV in the Southern United States. The South accounts for the majority of new HIV diagnoses in the country, and communities here often face unique barriers to prevention, testing, and treatment such as limited healthcare access, stigma, and systemic inequities.

Today is a call to action to raise awareness, promote testing, expand access to care, and work together to end HIV-related stigma and health disparities.

Acompáñenos el miércoles 12 de agosto, de 1:00 p. m. a 2:30 p. m. (hora del este), en una sesión especial dentro de la Serie de Aprendizaje sobre Reducción de Daños de Florida (Florida Harm Reduction Learning Series), centrada en la justicia para personas con discapacidad que consumen dr**as (PWUD, por sus siglas en inglés). Como parte del proyecto del Fondo Borealis para la Inclusión de Personas con Discapacidad de Yaya Por Vida, colaboramos estrechamente con ellos en nuestro programa EPIC; el objetivo no es solo crear un entorno más inclusivo, sino también abordar las desigualdades que enfrentan las personas con discapacidad. En un momento en que la reducción de daños, la recuperación, los derechos civiles y las adaptaciones bajo la ley ADA están bajo ataque, corresponde al movimiento garantizar que las personas con discapacidad que consumen dr**as ocupen su lugar y hagan oír su voz. El seminario web contará con subtítulos. Las transcripciones estarán disponibles tras finalizar el evento enviando una solicitud a [email protected].

During outreach, we often hear folks say that they were unaware of Naloxone’s durability or of the importance of rescue breathing in an overdose emergency. So let’s talk about it! There are many interesting facts about Naloxone that can actually make a big difference when a life is on the line.

Tonight Offentsive, an outreach program in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties, hosted a town hall to talk about opioid exposed newborns, access to MAT/MOUD through Escambia County EMTs, and the values of opening a syringe exchange in Pensacola. The crowd was engaged and thoughtful. It was our pleasure to support them in making the event happen. They’re the ones who deserve the credit for making it a success!
