“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” Matthew 5:4 - this was my Bible verse for the day yesterday…shortly after I posted one of my favorite photos of Luke, this notification appear on my phone. To be honest Inhad to do a double-take. Then I began reading all the comments on from his photo post. It was in that moment that I realized that through “my village” I was being blessed with words of comfort. God’s voice was being spoken through all of you. Though this day brings heartache in that we are not able to celebrate with Luke…and the thoughts come flooding through of all the things we missed in his life…I began to reflect on the true blessing…Luke! Though our time together on earth was short…you are and willl ever be our beautiful boy, and we are BLESSED to be your parents, brother, sister, grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin and friend. Your legacy has continued on through all of our voices…and lives are being changed. So today…I ask all of you to continue to be his voice, share his story…and change lives! Happy Birthday in Heaven! Forever in our hearts!💚😇

After much soul searching, we have decided that this year would be the last year for our Hope 4 Tomorrow Run. With COVID interrupting last year's event, our plan was to have this year be the last one. This year is the 20th "Angelversary" of Luke's passing, and felt it fitting for making this year the last year. With that, we have decided to go back to the beginning. When Runners 4 Luke started, we formed a team, and participated in 5K's that benefited other organizations. Our team felt it fitting, that this year we would return to our roots, and run for the organization that inspired us to form Luke's Legacy, and carry out their/our mission. An organization, that was there for us from that first phone call made to Phaedra Olsen on May 19, 2001. She was a pillar of strength when we needed it the most. And Angie Smith, our victim advocate, who was my our side, through some of our darkest days. And all the others that we have met along the way. We owe them so much more than we are humanly possible to give back, and I hope and pray they know what their presence meant to us those 20 plus years ago. Please join us October 17 at 9:00 am at Creve Coeur Park and walk once again, as Runners 4 Luke our "Last Mile" in the Walk Like Madd event - and fundraise for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
