I’m sharing this message as a few contributors have reached out to me at various times about potential greed in the Blessing Box. I very much understand those feelings when watching an elderly woman take diapers or feminine pads, as I have struggled with those same thoughts over the years. There will be the occasional inconsiderate individual in the mix for sure. However, I also know of people that live paycheck to paycheck, and literally shop in that box for their family members that are struggling. For example, a grandmother has her daughter with no car, and six children living with her, and she is on social security. There’s no baby daddy to help. Obviously, the grandmother does not use things like diapers or tampons, but the children in her household do. She simply doesn’t have the means to financially take care of her adult child and family. Several people have no transportation, and other people do Shop for those family members. My solution to these concerns is I pray on it. God always brings me peace when I’m thinking the worst in a situation. I have also taken the initiative to approach some of these individuals, and ask them what their situation is. You’d be surprised to hear some of their heart breaking answers. All in all, the humble offerings in this Blessing Box are very much needed by many. We can only hope the heart of that rare someone, not truly in need, is shifted to share. God bless you all. This truly does make a difference in people’s lives.

It has been a tough summer for some. The box has also struggled to maintain. The canned and bagged beans are common donations from families that cannot consume them. If you are shopping for the box, here are the needed items:
Peanut butter and jelly, soups and chilli, canned meats, vegetables, shelf stable milk, any personal care items (make or female)
I pray that everyone is blessed during this hot weather.

There were some fresh veggies added today around 3:50 PM. Hopefully, they are utilized before going bad in the heat.

I’ve been informed that the handle on the Blessing Box has been broken. The wind can be quite harsh at that location, and I’m hoping I can find someone willing to replace the handle for me? I will see what I can find for a replacement today while I have time off. If you have a husband or handyman that would not mind volunteering I would greatly appreciate it.

Today I watched a mother and daughter walk to the blessing box, and take a humble amount of items in one grocery bag. Then proceed to walk back home and even snack on the items they were able to get. It’s moments like this that remind me how IMPORTANT this little box and the community effort really is for some families. 💕
