In September of 2014 a small group of Gustavus students and a dedicated Gustavus faculty advisor came together to form an organization that was committed to exploring social entrepreneurship. Six months later the GSE, General Benefit Corporation was founded. GSE is an independent business entity that is legally separate from the College but consistent with the College’s mission, vision, and values

. GSE was born provide entrepreneurial experience and education to students, while at the same time benefitting society. We are proud to say that we are one of the first benefit corporations in the state of Minnesota. Our business’ introductory and signature product is a high-quality, all natural salsa that was developed by Gustavus Professor Paul Estenson. Its name is Doc E’s Life Changing Salsa and is already available for sale at multiple retail outlets in St.
