Gustavus Elders Program

Gustavus Elders Program Elders is a volunteer program with the purpose of improving the quality of life of those in long-term care facilities.

Volunteering occurs on a weekly basis for roughly an hour and fifteen minutes. Small groups of Gustavus students travel weekly to St. Peter nursing homes and assisted living apartments to socialize, build friendships, and assist where needed. Some students elect to be partnered one-to-one with an elder and meet in their homes to build friendships and share life stories. Partners spend time together playing cards, baking cookies, and going for walks.
