Summer Haven: Hikmah and Wellshare Transform Young Lives in St. Peter
When school doors close for summer, many underserved children in St. Peter face a challenges. Without enough guidance and support, youth do not her help they need, which leads them sometimes to fall behind in learning and lose connection with their peers and community
Hikmah and Wellshare have joined forces to address this critical gap with a comprehensive summer program that transforms young lives. The initiative goes beyond preventing academic loss, creating a safe space where underserved youth can explore their talents while learning about health, wellness, and their connection to nature.
At Hikmah, children truly feel at home. The program connects participants with caring teachers and mentors who provide the stability and encouragement many lack during summer months. In this caring place, youth can try art, computers, sports and become leasers. These activies help them feel good about themselves and learn skills
The program knows that doing well in school means being healthy too. Kids learn about eating well, taking care of their feelings, and how to stay healthy. They also learn important things like keeping clean, washing their hands, brushing their teeths and taking good care of their bodies.
The program teaches them about nature and how it connects to their lives. When kids know that adults care about them and believe in them. They start to do amazing things.
This provides does more than just teach, it makes the whole community stronger. Kids who stay busy during summer go back school ready to learn and help their families.
Hikmah and WellShare show that when kids get the right help, they can do great things. The good changes from this program last long after summer ends.
