WAYNE UPDATE 5/30/26. 🐷
It's been a rollercoaster of a week for Wayne! Last Thursday (5/21), he had emergency surgery to place a temporary drain to his bladder with hopes his urethra would heal from whatever was blocking it (no stones were seen in MRI). A week later, on 5/28, we planned to do a contrast procedure where we could basically add dye to his bladder to see where the liquid was traveling, and determine if there were any leaks and if the blockage continued.
Well, 5/28 rolls around, and I received a call that Wayne had ripped his tube in half. Our options for him no longer allowed us to wait it out, his bladder was now not able to fully drain, and we again risked his bladder filling and bursting if we did nothing.
We were able to still do the contrast procedure, and it was confirmed his urethra (very high up into his abdomen) was nearly blocked. We either needed to put him down or move forward with a risky procedure that has only been documented in pigs one previous time to place a permanent drain directly from his bladder to outside of his body.
Wayne is a young guy with lots of s***k and we decided to give the surgery a shot....
After several stressful hours, we learned that the surgery had been a success and Wayne was awake and back in his stall to rest!!
He's not out of the woods and his care moving forward will be very complicated for the rest of his life. But we're taking in one day at the time and hoping he continues to improve. He is currently doing really great considering all he's gone through!! ❤️
We continue to be extremely thankful for all of his doctors and staff who continue to root for him to get better and have been able to navigate his very complicated case.
I know everyone is hurting for funds right now, but I wanted to update his bill is now over $12,000, and we'd really appreciate any amount to help chip away at that hefty bill!!! 🤯
