District 10 Como Community Council

District 10 Como Community Council We magnify the ideas and power of our community members. Every neighborhood in Saint Paul has a district council. When we can’t, we challenge them.

In District 10, that’s us: The Como Community Council. We connect neighbors with other neighbors who want to accomplish things. Big picture, we magnify the ideas and power of our community members. We give renters, homeowners, businesses, and local organizations a constructive, respected, consistent way to combine voices. We push for decisions that are made from the bottom up, not the top down. We

provide a trusted space to talk and listen, the support for grassroots energy, a hub for local partnerships, a way to stay informed, a place to get things done. When we can, we work cooperatively with institutions, city staff, and elected officials. We are accountable to our neighbors; in fact, we are run by a 17-member board of volunteers elected by our neighbors. Our mission: We connect and empower each other, creating a compassionate community, courageously addressing injustices of the past and present, and forging a bold and inclusive
Our vision: A vibrant, diverse, affordable neighborhood filled with a spirit of kindness and belonging.

The City of Saint Paul has a budget of almost $1 billion a year. How we raise and spend that money shows what our community values. By coming to a public budget meeting, you and your neighbors can help create the City’s next budget.

The Saint Paullinators of South Como are thrilled to announce that we’re continuing our work to create more habitat for pollinators through the Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR) Pollinator Pathways grant. This exciting program will allow us to plant more community gardens and up to 4 new boulevard and front yard gardens in South Como this summer, helping to make our neighborhood a welcoming space for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

Thanks to a previous BWSR Lawns to Legumes grant and installation help from Urban Roots, 20 Boulevard gardens, 3 bee lawns, and 4 community pollinator gardens have been planted and are already supporting our local pollinators!

But we’re not stopping there! With the new Pollinator Pathways grant, we’re bringing even more gardens to South Como and continuing to grow our pollinator-friendly spaces.

We’re looking for community members (homeowners and renters) within the eligible neighborhood to apply to host a pollinator habitat at their home or business.

Check out our Pollinator Habitat Application to learn more and see if you qualify to apply.

Applications are due by June 15th so fill out the form below quickly if you are at all interested!
The selected applicants will be notified by June 22nd.

The Como Community Council is putting down the gavel once a month for a social gathering. This agenda-free meet-up happens between our two monthly meetings on the second Wednesday each month.

These events are open to all. They provide an opportunity for D10 regulars, veterans, and newcomers to get to know one another outside our formal meetings. No board business is conducted at these meet-ups.
