Our mission is to advocate for the establishment, preservation, protection, development and improvement of parks and open space, trails and bikeways in St. What began as a neighborhood group has grown into the foremost advocate for parks and trails in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. How Friends of the Parks and Trails began:

In 1984, developers proposed building housing units in the middle of

Hidden Falls - Crosby Lake Regional Park. A group of citizens banded together to protect this marvelous park. When the housing proposal was defeated, the group continued to meet. Paul Foundation provided start-up funding to establish a permanent organization in 1985.
