Today, we honor the life of Mr. Mama Argo—a deeply respected community leader whose lifelong service, guidance, and generosity touched countless lives. As a founding member of OSFNA, he helped strengthen Oromo unity and encouraged youth and families through sports and cultural engagement. Today, the Sikkoo Mandoo Community of Minnesota joins countless others in mourning the passing of Professor Hamdessa Tuso.

Professor Tuso was a brilliant scholar, cultural ambassador, and lifelong advocate for peace and justice. His work uplifted the Oromo people and inspired communities around the world.

May Professor Hamdessa Tuso rest in peace, and may his vision for a more just and peaceful world continue to guide us all.

Job Opening: African Friends, Family & Neighbors (FFN) Navigator/Mentor

Employment Type: Full-time ($50,000/year + benefits) or Part-time ($25,000/year + benefits)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: SMCM Office & Community Sites (St. Paul, MN)
Schedule: Mon–Fri, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM (some evenings/weekends)
Reports to: Program Coordinator

Position Overview
SMCM seeks a dedicated FFN Navigator/Mentor to support immigrant and refugee caregivers in culturally and linguistically specific, strengths-based, and trauma-informed ways. Each FTE will engage and support up to 20 FFN caregivers.

Key Responsibilities
Recruit and engage Oromo and other community members into FFN programs.
Provide 1:1 and group training, resources, and mentoring to caregivers.
Promote children’s health, safety, nutrition, and learning success.

Collaborate with SMCM leadership and community partners.

Requirements

Female applicants only.

Bilingual: English + another community language (e.g., Oromo).

Passion for working with immigrant/refugee caregivers and youth under 18.

Must pass a background check.
