VISION

VISION provides global community building opportunities for St. The projects vary in both length and scope.

Thomas students to encounter and work alongside diverse communities that are dedicated to creating a more just world. VISION teams travel to collaborate with our partnering organzations during January Term and Spring Break,. Some projects are one week in duration while others are more than three weeks long. In addition, some of the projects focus on service related experiences such as working with

a reforestation program in San Lucas Toliman, Guatemala while others are immersion experiences such as spending time in the Appalachian Mountains in Kentucky. Regardless of its focus, each project shares the ultimate goal of creating solidarity, learning about issues of poverty and injustice, and connecting the local with the global. From Quito, Ecuador to Campus: Stories of Solidarity

Join us for a powerful storytelling event where students will share their experiences from a recent immersion with The Center – A Family of Families in Quito, Ecuador.

Through photos, personal reflections, and community insights, this session will highlight how meaningful community engagement and solidarity in an international setting can transform hearts, minds, and futures.

Come listen, learn, and explore what solidarity looks like across borders—and how it can inspire change right here on campus.

From walking the halls of innovation to serving meals with heart—our VISION experience was full of purpose.

We toured the incredible work of , gaining insight into creative and community-driven solutions to end homelessness. We rolled up our sleeves to sort and organize donations at the food and thrift reclamation store. And we ended the day serving dinner restaurant-style to residents and families—complete with smiles, conversations, and shared humanity.

Every step was about building understanding, growing in solidarity, and learning how hope shows up in practical, powerful ways.

Beautiful reminders of our why.

As we began our volunteer journey in Phoenix, a coordinator shared these powerful words:
“Everything you touch will touch someone else.”
That stayed with us.

From packing clothing donations to sharing stories around the table, every moment reminded us of our interconnectedness—and the pressing need for compassion. Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the U.S., yet it faces one of the nation’s fastest-growing housing crises. Over 9,600 people are experiencing homelessness on any given night, many without access to basic shelter.

Our time with St. Vincent de Paul has opened our eyes and hearts. We’re not just here to volunteer—we’re here to learn, grow, and be part of lasting change.

Introducing our spring break community partner! We can’t wait to get started with in their work with the homeless community of Phoenix, AZ. Highlighted here a few of their programs including their urban gardens, transitional housing, and food kitchens! They also run work readiness programs & emphasize exiting homelessness for good!

Yesterday, our VISION students rolled up their sleeves and participated in a community Minga, working alongside a family to clean and level a lot for their future home. 💪✨

A Minga is a tradition rooted in the Quechua language, symbolizing collective work for the common good—a beautiful reminder of the power of community and solidarity.

Though it was hard labor, the impact and connections made were truly meaningful. ❤️🌍

Tommies in VISION Group 2 had an incredible day immersing themselves in the rich history and culture of Quito, Ecuador! 🌎✨ They explored the story behind the , visited the breathtaking La Compañía Church, and deepened their understanding of the people and daily life in this vibrant city.
