The Center for Broadcast Journalism (CBJ) is launching its advanced training intensive, the Power 104.7 Level II Media Lab.
The Power 104.7 Level II Media Lab is an eight (8) week hybrid learning program that runs four days a week from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m. for students ages 18-24. Training includes daily reporting assignments, live and live‑to‑tape broadcasts, field reporting, critiques, mentorship, and portfolio reviews. Participants will fully produce live radio broadcasts on CBJ’s FM station, Power 104.7 (online at www.Power1047.fm).
The goal of the Power 104.7 Level II Media Lab is to offer career readiness for journalism, media production, communications and related fields to create a more diverse, prepared and ethically grounded generation of media professionals serving their communities. This is an inclusive training program, with emphasis on Black journalists and other underserved communities.
By immersing participants in a live, deadline‑driven radio newsroom with structured instruction, mentorship, and critique, the Power 104.7 Level II Media Lab equips reporters with the habits and skills required for sustainable media careers.
This program is designed for those who have prior experience and exposure to journalism. However, applicants are not required to be on a “traditional” learning or career track.
This is a paid learning opportunity with stipends of $3,000.
