March 17th from 6-8pm, join us for our next ART BQ + Frogtown Forum, in partnership with Frogtown Neighborhood Association (District 7)! 🔥🌱

We’re welcoming special guest Chef Blong Vang, who will be leading a hands-on cooking experience teaching us how food is medicine. Come ready to learn, cook, and connect through healing traditions that nourish our bodies and our community.

After we break bread together, we’ll move into a forum discussion focused on the impact of the local brass foundry and how soil contamination is affecting Frogtown Farm and our neighborhood at large. This is an important conversation about environmental justice, health, and protecting our future.

All are welcome, so get ready for a night of learning, building awareness, and being in community together!

Come hungry. Come curious. Come ready to engage.

Our Youth Arts Leadership Team's summer has come to a close, and with it we say farewell (but not goodbye!) to those who have grown out of the program. This year, we send off two incredible youth leaders who have left their mark on YALT in immeasurable ways, William (who has been on YALT 2 years) and Salma (who has been on YALT for 4 years!). William and Salma are two stunning, dedicated young leaders, full of creativity, excitement, focus, and drive. Both have run countless events, including youth programs, workshops, classes, and of course, the Speak Out And Lead festival. In everything they do, they bring an incredible energy and excitement that makes the vibe.

Their combined 6 years of service have left a deep mark on 825, and now it's time for them to leave their mark on the world! Fair winds and following seas to you both, as you go on to the next adventure.

At this year's Frogtown Arts Festival, we're not just celebrating local art, music, and culture. We're celebrating the people who grow flowers in our neighborhood (literally and figuratively), whether they just started or whether they've been working for 40 years. We're pleased to announce the first of those we'll be honoring this year: Melvin Giles.

Melvin is in a class of his own; his impact on our neighborhood was vast, and there are few people in Frogtown and Rondo who can't name some way he changed their lives. Community gardens, peace poles, and bubbles carry his memory here forever. For this reason, he is the only person nominated in the "Eternal Impact" category.

The honoring ceremony will be at 2pm at the Frogtown Arts Festival, on the main stage. Please join us to give all our honorees their flowers, recognizing their hard work and incredible impact.
