SciMathMN’s STEM Day at the Minnesota State Fair takes place on the OPENING DAY OF THE FAIR - AUGUST 22, 2024. This year’s event marks the 15th consecutive year the program has been offered. The high-energy experiential event, open from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. in Dan Patch Park, will include exhibits featuring engineering, emerging tech, healthcare, transportation, robotics, coding, zoology, physics, data science, computer science, design, med device, construction, environmental applications, chemistry, retail, and many other fields, plus LIVE stage acts presented throughout the day.
The theme of this year’s event “You Belong in STEM” has been chosen to ensure that everyone in Minnesota can see themselves as an engaged STEM Citizen who has opportunity to pursue learning pathways that lead to exciting careers in the STEM workforce.
New in 2024, an interactive engineering team challenge where everyone at the MN State Fair is invited to participate:
Pop Fly Team Challenge: Using a created launcher, each team will earn points by competing in challenges such as launching ping pong balls into buckets worth various points and having a team member catch the ping pong balls
PEX Pipe Team Challenge: Teams will compete in human marble run, ring toss and hula hoop challenges using PEX pipe provided by Uponor
In addition to the LIVE STAGE acts schedule listed below, we invite the public to join us for a brief MN Department of Education - Presidential Award Finalists Recognition & Scholars of Distinction Awards ceremony at 11:05 a.m. AND the STEM Day Gubernatorial Proclamation scheduled at 2:05 p.m.
