NETWORK FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF
CHILDREN OF AFRICAN DESCENT
Our Mission-
We exist to strengthen the cultural connections within communities of African descent that promote, sustain, and enhance the healthy development of our children. Our work is about strengthening four critical cultural connections
IDENTITY FAMILY - COMMUNITY - SCHOOLS
Identity Connects children to knowledge of self (which is
the foundation for all learning) by giving them the skills and tools needed in order to access information and resources, acquiring knowledge of self within the context of culture, heritage, and community
Family-
Nurture the connections between children and their parents/guardians and help parents help their children achieve academic, cultural, and social success. Community-
Build a network of families and community groups in order to collectively raise and educate future generations with a conscious appreciation for cultural heritage, values, and traditions of African peoples
Schools-
Connect families and the cultural community to educational institutions, helping teachers, schools, and systems broaden their thinking about how to better serve children and families of African descent.
