April is Volunteer Appreciation Month, and we have a lot to celebrate!

Volunteers don't just give their time, they show up as neighbors, mentors, and friends. They tutor students, support women rebuilding their lives, and help build the kind of community where every person belongs.

To every volunteer who has walked through our doors: thank you. You are the heartbeat of this work.

If you've ever thought about getting involved, we’d love to welcome you. Learn more about volunteering at: https://www.accolamn.org/volunteer-opportunities

Yesterday morning, over 360 neighbors gathered in person and virtually, to celebrate what's possible when a community comes together with purpose.

Thank you for being part of it. Every seat filled, every screen lit up, every act of generosity is a step toward a more just and welcoming community for all.

The morning may be over, but the impact doesn't stop here. Give, volunteer, or join the Impact Circle, and keep the momentum going at accolamn.org

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible sponsors. Your generosity makes this morning, and so much more, possible. 🙏

Once a social worker in a thriving community, when faced with political violence, land seizures, drought, and economic collapse, she had to make the impossible choice to leave her home. Ava endured a month-long walk filled with detentions, assaults, and worse. She ran out of money and food. She doesn’t know how she made it alive.

At Sarah’s, Ava found safety, stability, and room to rebuild.

She secured work as a nursing assistant and, thanks to Sarah’s scholarship fund, began nursing courses that brought her closer to the career she once dreamed of. Today, Ava is thriving; her growing confidence and strong grades reflect the healing power of stability, community, and the generosity of donors who make this all possible.

Your support helps women like Ava reclaim their futures. Learn more how you can get involved at: https://www.accolamn.org/meet-the-moment

Learning In Style School is opening their doors to share with you how the programs of Accola are advocating for the dignity and well-being of every person we serve, and more importantly, how you can get involved.

We’ll be joined by guest speaker, Amy Smith, who serves as Social Work Director and clinical faculty member at the University of St. Thomas‘s Interprofessional Center for Counseling and Legal Services. Amy supervises UST student social workers as they provide on-site case management to Learning in Style students, bringing deep expertise in removing barriers to care and connecting people to resources.

Women at Sarah’s deserve safety. They deserve stability. They deserve a community that stands with them. When ICE activity threatens to disrupt the lives of our residents, Sarah’s… an Oasis for Women, a program of Accola , meets the needs of our time with compassion and unwavering support.

The Response Fund makes it possible to step in the moment a crisis hits. We're delivering rapid, flexible assistance (including emergency resources like groceries, and critical financial support) without delays or restrictions. We ensure that no woman faces her most vulnerable moments alone.

Your generosity helps counter fear with dignity, trauma with stability, and crisis with community. Stand with the women of Sarah’s today.

Last week, we gathered for a beautiful meal of thanks at Sarah’s… an Oasis for Women, giving back to the resilient women who call it home. Surrounded by delicious food and kind community, residents shared heartfelt cards of gratitude, creating a truly special moment.

We are so grateful to the incredible community volunteers who helped serve, host, and financially support this Thanksgiving celebration. Their efforts made it possible for Accola to show these amazing women that they are cared for during this season of giving!

More volunteers are needed! If you’re looking to make a difference for our residents, we’d love to have you!

Thank You for Joining Us!

Our November Open House was at Carondelet Village where we had an inspired time of learning about Accola and deep conversations around our programming. Special thanks to Sister Susan Oeffling for introducing Accola at the top of the hour.

Deep gratitude to Sheilla Matanhire for sharing her journey with Sarah’s… An Oasis for Women. Her testimony beautifully illustrated the impact we can make in our community when we boldly support each other.

Thank you to the dedicated Physician Assistant students from St. Catherine University for their incredible work. This amazing group rolled up their sleeves to help beautify our grounds by planting blueberry bushes, edging our labyrinths, and tackling general weeding and yard work.

More volunteers are needed this fall! If you’re looking to make a difference for our residents, we’d love to have you!
