Children's Law Center of Minnesota CLC provides legal representation to MN foster youth, advocates for at-risk youth, and educates child

Since 1995 Children’s Law Center (CLC) has provided free legal services to Minnesota youth in foster care. With the help of 320 volunteer attorneys, CLC provides these professional legal services to 700 Minnesota foster children every year. In addition to direct representation, CLC engages in systemic reform benefiting all of Minnesota’s foster children, and develops educational programming and materials for people involved in the child protection system and for foster care and vulnerable youth.

Do you know someone who goes above and beyond for Minnesota’s children?

Children’s Law Center of Minnesota is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Heroes for Children Award, which recognizes an individual who has made a meaningful difference in the lives of young people through their career or volunteer service.

Nominees may work in any field — education, health care, legislation, advocacy, mentoring, community leadership, or another area that supports the well-being of children.

The selected honoree will be recognized at CLC’s 31st Anniversary Celebration of Champions Benefit on September 24, 2026, at the Hollywood Theater in Minneapolis.

Nominations are due Friday, July 17, 2026, and should be submitted to [email protected].

Children’s Law Center of Minnesota is preparing for our 31st Anniversary Celebration of Champions Benefit & Awards on September 24, 2026, and we are currently seeking silent auction donations.

Auction proceeds support CLC’s work providing free legal advocacy for Minnesota youth in foster care.

We are especially looking for items such as restaurant gift cards, tickets, local experiences, vacation stays, gift baskets, wellness packages, and unique items or services from businesses and community supporters.

If you or your business would like to contribute an auction item, or if you know someone we should reach out to, we’d be grateful to hear from you.

Children’s Law Center of Minnesota is now accepting nominations for our Heroes For Children Award!

This award recognizes an individual who has made significant contributions to the well-being of Minnesota’s children through their career or volunteer work. Nominees may support children in many different ways, including teaching, health care, legislation, advocacy, mentoring, or other efforts that strengthen children’s physical, spiritual, social, or emotional well-being.

Do you know someone who has made a meaningful difference in the lives of children in Minnesota? We would love to hear their story.

Nominations should include contact information for both the nominee and nominator, along with a one- to three-page narrative describing how the nominee has made a significant difference for children in Minnesota. Specific examples are encouraged.

At Children’s Law Center of Minnesota, we believe every child deserves to be heard, supported, and protected.

For youth in foster care, having an attorney by their side can make all the difference. CLC provides free legal representation to young people ages 10 and older, helping them understand their rights, speak up about their needs, and have a voice in decisions that shape their futures.

Together with our dedicated staff, volunteer attorneys, donors, and community partners, we work to ensure that children and youth in Minnesota’s foster care system are not navigating it alone.
