Listen Up Youth Radio We provide youth paid training in journalism, storytelling, and media literacy.

To provide Twin Cities youth with access to radio and digital media, tools to build community through media justice, and opportunities to amplify voice and leadership. Listen Up is a Twin Cities based social enterprise working at the intersection of youth employment, civic engagement, and media production. Listen Up provides youth paid training in audio production, storytelling, and media literacy

, while offering educational workshop, audio production, social media marketing, and voice work services to clients. We use a media justice framework to address the country’s lack of:
1) Representation of youth - particularly BIPOC, LGBTQ2S, low income, or female youth - in media,
2) Opportunities for young people to access and learn radio broadcasting skills, and
3) Robust or relevant experiences for youth to practice collective leadership and dialogue.

We have so many plants for you!

Tonight we're previewing our new season of YouthSoup called 'Our Artificial Futures', which explores the encroachment of AI, social media, and other artificialities into where we live, work and play. In the spirit of advocating for more connections to humanity and nature, tonight's event is plant themed! There will be plants for sale (sliding scale) for maximum spring enjoyment.

We’d love to see you there, to both connect with you and talk more about the ways that we can together make a humane and grounded future.

From the beginning, Listen Up Youth Radio has centered young people as the drivers of a well-nourished future media ecosystem. As a small 501(c)3 co-run by youth and adults, *every* donation makes a huge impact for us and our ability to provide experience, connections, and good content for our youth and our community.

As the most powerful media institutions in the country are purchased to serve corporate interests, we need local, nonprofit, community-powered media more than ever before. And as the funding landscape shifts beneath us, organizations like Listen Up need your support now more than ever to continue our work. Your donation provides our young people with the resources they need to build their network and their media entrepreneurship skills that will serve them throughout their lives, and help us raise up a community of storytellers that we can trust.

It's that time of year again! Our Summer Media Intensive cohort is excited to share a preview of our 8th season of YouthSoup, "Words Matter." Stop in next Thursday (8/21) from 5-7pm to catch it and learn about the process before it goes live in the fall on + wherever else you might get your podcasts.
