Are you a knitter who is interested in teaching your craft and helping neighbors get to know each other? LitKnit needs facilitators! We are looking for facilitators to hold circles in these libraries: Franklin, Brooklyn Park, East Lake, North Regional, Brookdale, Washburn and Hopkins. Our hope is to find facilitators that come from the neighborhoods these libraries are located in and from a variety of backgrounds so that we may truly represent the diversity that exists in our communities.
LitKnit circles are intergenerational gatherings of between 8 to 10 neighbors, 8 years old + that meet for an hour once a week to learn a craft, connect with each other and listen to stories being read to them while they work on their projects.
Pay: $40 per week per circle session + $20 per hour for 3 hours of training = $640. This is a contract position.
Circle Sessions: Circles will run from January – May 2020 for a total of 16 weeks. Facilitator responsibilities will be for 1.5 hours per session: 15 minutes to set up, 1 hour facilitation of circle, 15 minutes to clean up. Librarians will also be present at and assist the circle and facilitator.
Preparation/Training: LitKnit circle process creator, Jaime Gjerdingen, will train you in how to teach knitting to multiple ages, solve knitting mistakes, the LitKnit check-in sharing process and LitKnit circle facilitation. Two training hours will be at the Augsburg Park Library circle for you to experience an established LitKnit circle and the remaining hour will be detailed, one-to-one training. Then, when you begin the circle(s) at the library(s) you are assigned to either Jaime or Jackie (Augsburg Park librarian) will be present for your first two circle(s) to assist you.
