Some of the Twin Cities’ finest jazz musicians come together as Mississippi—a powerhouse quartet featuring Pete Whitman, Kavyesh Kaviraj, Jeff Bailey, and Kevin Washington.

With decades of experience performing alongside artists like Wynton Marsalis, The Temptations, Curtis Fuller, the Glenn Miller Orchestra, and the Minnesota Orchestra, Mississippi delivers adventurous, high-energy jazz rooted in tradition and driven by fearless improvisation.

Main Stage Lineup Announcement #3: David Feily ( 3:30-4:30 )

Twin Cities guitarist and composer David Feily brings an electrifying blend of jazz, funk, R&B, rock, and global influences to every performance. Known for his expressive improvisation and groove-driven sound, Feily has become one of the region’s most sought-after musicians.

A frequent collaborator with LA Buckner, Minneapolis String Project, Steve Cole, Lucia Sarmiento, BZ3 Organ Trio, The Steeles, and Rhythm Street Movement, Feily released his jazz-fusion EP Thunderground in early 2026. Catch his high-energy set on the Main Stage at Selby Ave JazzFest on Saturday, September 12!

Main Stage Lineup Announcement #2: Minnesota State Band ( 1:30 - 2:30 )

For more than 125 years, the Minnesota State Band has been a Minnesota tradition. Founded in 1898, it’s the official band of the State of Minnesota—and the only remaining state band in the United States.

From stirring marches and American classics to symphonic favorites, this all-volunteer ensemble brings the power and pageantry of the concert band tradition to the Selby Ave JazzFest Main Stage.

Main Stage Lineup Announcement: Walker|West Faculty X-tet! 12:15-1PM

The Walker|West Faculty X-tet is a dynamic ensemble of distinguished teaching artists from Walker West Music Academy, a Twin Cities leader in music education and community engagement.

Rooted in jazz, R&B, gospel, classical, and contemporary music, the X-tet highlights the depth and artistry of Walker|West’s faculty through vibrant, genre-spanning performances.

Each member is an accomplished performer and educator with local, national, and international experience, blending tradition, innovation, and improvisation into a compelling concert experience.

More than a performing ensemble, the Faculty X-tet embodies Walker|West’s mission: building community, fostering creativity, and inspiring the next generation of musicians.

Selby Avenue Jazz Fest Tradition Returns: Selby Avenue Brass Band

The 25th Annual Selby Avenue Jazz Fest returns Saturday, September 12th, and we’re kicking things off with a tradition we wouldn’t dream of starting without — the Selby Avenue Brass Band

Fresh off their main stage performance at the Twin Cities Jazz Festival in June, this New Orleans-inspired brass band will bring the celebration to the streets with a lively parade down Selby Avenue at 11 AM, setting the tone for another unforgettable Jazz Fest.

The music is just getting started — stay tuned as we begin announcing this year’s main stage lineup!

Whether you’re helping welcome guests, supporting artists backstage, collecting community feedback, keeping the festival green, assisting in the Family Fun Zone, or helping with setup and cleanup, there’s a role for everyone.
