L'Arche Twin Cities

L'Arche Twin Cities Our Mission: We seek to create a place of belonging that is rooted in mutual, authentic relationships. Please donate!

L'Arche Twin Cities celebrates the gifts and connections formed between people with and without disabilities, showing the world that a community can be created anywhere and everywhere, even if it means you have to do it without walls. Through collective vulnerability, openness, and spirituality, we are building a community that respects and embraces differences. By recognizing the inherent dign

ity and worth of all people, we strive to be a dynamic movement for radical inclusion. The ongoing effort to found and become a L'Arche community in Minnesota has been bolstered by the prayer, humor, and work of many different people for many years. Hear more of the story of L'Arche and its 150 communities around the world below:

Today, we are a group of people with and without disabilities in and around the Twin Cities Area of Minnesota, USA. L'Arche communities are part of a global network in about 40 countries. People that live in L'Arche welcome members from different faith traditions, and acknowledge that mutual relationships are essential to a model of "life sharing." Several of us are former members of L'Arche communities in North America. Several times a year we organize a potluck, reflection, and social for our wider Minnesota community of people with and without visible* disabilities.

*Not every disability is visible and we are all temporarily able bodied. By credit card (with the option of recurring payments):

We’ve got a jampacked June community gathering tomorrow! Come for the food, stay to meet Giovanna, (who Alex happily welcomed into our community immediately, in the best way he knows how, through sharing his love of plants😊,) and epic recaps of two trips that members of our community took in May. Maybe you know or maybe you don’t, can you guess where? If you come join us tomorrow, you can find out.
Saturday, June 6th
Griggs Midway Building, S.177. I guarantee you, we have some great memories to share that you don’t wanna miss!

Have you heard! We’ve got a new intern for the summer! Meet Giovanna! We are so glad to have you on board and we already know you’ll be such an asset to this community and organization! We can’t wait to hear and see how your knowledge and ideas will help shape us going forward. You could have chosen to work for any other organization and we are grateful that you chose us!
If you see her out and about at one of our events, don’t be afraid to come up and introduce yourselves!
In the meantime, here is what she would like you to know about her. Please help us welcome Giovanna!

“My name is Giovanna, and I’m an international student at Macalester College from Brazil. I’m majoring in Economics with a concentration in Urban Studies. Back home, I have two lovely golden retrievers named Apolo and Zeus — they’re my best friends and the loves of my life. I’m also a huge fan of horror movies, but I love going shopping and exploring events around big cities as well. I’m super excited to work with L'Arche this summer because it aligns so closely with my interests, and also because everyone has been so welcoming.

So I, Mao, just tried a dirty soda for the first time at our last happy hour. if I remember correctly, this particular drink was made up of. Sprite, cream, and caramel flavored syrup.
However, a dirty drink can be customized to any combination of fruit, juice, and/or soda, cream, and flavored syrup you would like. This one in my opinion, was delicious. What about you? Have you ever had a dirty soda? What is your favorite drink? Does anyone know where the name “Dirty Soda? comes from? Let me know in the comments. Thank you to Duel Citizen for hosting us in your space and giving us great service. and thank you to ACT - Advocating Change Together for inviting and partnering with us for this event!

Here are some behind the scenes photos of our time shooting our interviews and our welcome party with the @ ever able crew! Though it was a busy and hectic weekend for us all spending time with you made it so worth it. You made us laugh, you made us cry and allowed us to make some fun memories with you. Thank you to everyone who helped make our part in this project, a big success. Whether you were a interviewee, volunteer, ride giver or just an observer on the day, we cannot thank you enough for your support. Thank you to Bryce and Sarah Moore for being able to coordinate all the logistics leading up to the shoot. Look out for us (along with many other L’Arche communities) coming to a theater near you!
