Today we honor something that cannot be measured, only remembered.
On National Medal of Honor Day, we pause to recognize the men who went beyond duty, beyond fear, and beyond themselves in service to others. The Medal of Honor is not just the nation’s highest military award, it is a symbol of sacrifice, courage, and an unbreakable commitment to something greater than self.
Here in Minnesota, we carry that responsibility with deep pride.
The Minnesota Medal of Honor Memorial stands as a place of reflection, education, and legacy. It reminds us that these stories are not distant history, they are part of who we are. They live in our communities, in our families, and in the values we choose to carry forward.
Today is not only about remembering the recipients.
It is about asking ourselves how we live in a way that honors them.
How we show up for one another.
How we lead.
How we serve.
To the Medal of Honor recipients connected to Minnesota, and to all who have worn the uniform with honor, we remember you, we thank you, and we commit to ensuring your legacy is never forgotten.
May we live lives worthy of their sacrifice.
