THANK YOU to everyone who joined us at our 'Advancing your Healthcare Career' Panel Discussion this week!

Our panelists, former Institute alumni now working in the healthcare sector, shared great conversations and advice with students on their journey and experience in furthering their career in this field.

This was also a great opportunity to learn about the training and programs the Institute offers in healthcare for immigrants and refugees, including our FREE nursing assistant class and medical career advancement!

“This is a dramatic shift, especially for those individuals who maybe have some medical needs that require more attention,” said Michelle Eberhard, the Institute's director of Refugee Services.

Eberhard spoke with MPR News about the impact this will have on the health of thousands of immigrants in our state and how the Institute is helping clients switch to other health plans.

More than 5,000 refugees, asylum seekers, Afghan and Ukrainian humanitarian parolees, trafficking victims, noncitizens protected under the Violence Against Women Act and qualified noncitizen veterans in Minnesota will lose medical assistance under new federal rules.

September 17 marked Citizenship Day.

In honor of this, we want to share the story of Louie, who we helped in his citizenship journey.
