Families came together to connect, learn about different resources available in their community, and enjoy time with one another. The kids got in on the fun too, creating their own sensory bottles with glitter and other colorful materials! ✨

A huge THANK YOU to and Duluth Lions Club for their generous donations, and to Great Lakes Aquarium for providing a wonderful space for our event and discounted admission for our families. Your support helped make this special day possible.

A new webinar is now available exploring the Minnesota READ Act Report for students who are Deaf, DeafBlind, or Hard of Hearing.

The Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing Working Group brought together educators, literacy experts, state agencies, researchers, and other partners to examine how Minnesota can support equitable literacy access for students who may not fully access sound-based approaches such as phonics.

In this webinar, you’ll learn about:
- The collaborative work behind the READ Act report
- Key findings and recommendations from the Working Group
- Considerations for supporting literacy development for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Basic considerations for students who are DeafBlind
- How this work is shaping practical guidance for educators across Minnesota
- And more!

MSAD is offering FREE Family ASL Classes for families with Deaf children who reside in Minnesota, and registration is now open!

These classes provide families with an opportunity to learn and practice ASL together in a supportive environment. All skill levels are welcome, whether a family is just beginning to learn their first signs or already has experience using ASL.

Classes will begin October 13, 2026, and continue through May 2027. Families are also welcome to register for more than one class.

All families of Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing children are welcome for free, regardless if your child attends our school or not! Come to our Parent/Child class for DHH/DB children between the ages of 0 - 3 at Metro Deaf School on Monday's from 9 - 10:30 am. We will chat, play together and learn ASL!!
