A little rain delay, but harvest season is quickly approaching in our South Dakota fields.

Remember to always watch for tractors and other farm equipment on the roadways and practice patience and safe driving habits when you encounter them on the road.

Agriculture is South Dakota's number one industry, which means you'll find hundreds of miles of highways traversing fields of soybeans, corn, sunflowers, and wheat. In South Dakota, we love our farmers and driving by fields of golden corn stalks brings a smile to our faces.

Did you know South Dakota is home to 9 completed completed Build a Wildlife Area projects? Combined they total 1,521 acres - including 320 acres that were recently conveyed to USFWS adding to Shutler WPA in Kingsbury County and Weaver WPA in Beadle County.

We also hold title to the 560-acre Frozen Man Creek GPA John Stengle Tract that was dedicated in 2024! We’re currently working to leverage this property as match to secure more grant funds to create more public lands in the prairie pothole region!

Check out the forecast for pheasant hunting here in the pheasant capital. While some areas of the state were hot and dry in late summer, it should be a heck of a fall here in SD with over 1.6 million acres of public acess including thanks to our SD PATH program.
