Every year, we are in a cycle of cuts. We need a plan to do things differently. As our students process and recover from Metro Surge, we want to return to the 0.5 and 1.0 FTE model for EL staff and to fully staff our district with counselors. Both of these actions will support students while fostering a sense of belonging and a full education that reflects our shared values, while helping us meet the goals of SPPS' Strategic Plan for 2026-2033. With every passing moment, it becomes harder to stop these changes and do the right thing. Education Minnesota and AFT are working together to bring members critical information on navigating health insurance practices and medical debt. The clinic will cover the topics listed below, and members will be able to ask questions anonymously and schedule individual follow-up to address personal situations.

- What to do before a planned expense
- Common (and illegal) billing practices
- Actions you can take if you get a surprise medical bill
- Accessing charity care
- Insurance appeals
