The 5th Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Company D Civil War Reenactors will be encamped at Fort Abercrombie State Historic Site for their Opening Day on Saturday May 23, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Fort Abercrombie will be open daily between 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. from May 23 to September 7, 2026.

Today we pause to reflect upon the 162nd Anniversary of the Battle of Antietam. More Americans lost their lives in the single 24 hour period on September 17, 1862 than have been lost before or since. Here is the story of one Minnesota man's journey through that battle.
