Thank you so much for your hard work at our Hoyt Ave home! We're grateful for our St Paul Lions neighbors!

A job well-done at Wingspan Life Resources' Hoyt Avenue group home! While Direct Service Professionals provide round-the-clock care to group home residents, it takes a village of volunteers to make their outdoor spaces bright and welcoming by mowing, weeding, raking and trimming. We're proud to do our part!

Our participants had a wonderful time exploring nature at Silverwood Park's Textures in Nature & Clay class!

The group began by collecting leaves and other pieces of nature to press into clay tiles. As they worked, they learned some fun facts about the natural world, including how a conch shell seems to "hum" when held to your ear and how turtles all have the same number of scutes on their shells.

After painting their clay creations, participants headed out on a walk through the park to learn more about the trees, plants, and insects that call Silverwood Park home.

A special thank you to Silverwood Park for providing such a welcoming and engaging experience for our participants. We appreciate the knowledge and enthusiasm your team shared throughout the class!

What a class! This week in our Moving Art Contraptions residency with COMPAS Teaching Artist Jan D. Elftmann, participants got to work on the electrical components of their robots. They learned what a circuit is, how it works, and how to safely use wire strippers—or "dinosaurs," as Jan called them! By the end of the lesson, everyone knew exactly where to place their wires and where to keep their fingers.

The excitement in the room was hard to miss when batteries were connected, switches were flipped, and pieces started spinning for the first time. It was also wonderful to see clients and staff working together throughout the evening. From problem-solving to assembling parts to celebrating successes, it was truly a team effort.

We're already looking forward to seeing what everyone adds to their projects next week!

Creativity kept rolling this week in our Moving Art Contraptions residency with COMPAS Teaching Artist Jan Elftmann!

Last week, participants focused on building the bases of their moving contraptions. This week, everyone got started assembling and decorating their robots, and it was amazing to see the creativity and teamwork between clients and staff as the projects began to really come to life.

Each robot is already full of personality, and we can’t wait to see what participants add to their moving creations next week!

This team from Purina was a huge help at our Clinton group home in Richfield! In addition to plenty of weeding, mulching, pruning and trimming, they helped to level the soil in the garden, giving it safer footing for Clinton resident, Asha, when she tends to her plants!

Wheels are turning and creativity is rolling right along in our new Moving Art Contraptions residency with COMPAS Teaching Artist Jan Elftmann!

This week, participants built the bases for their moving contraptions, added wheels and pull handles, and began decorating their creations with colorful personal touches. Throughout this five-class residency, participants will continue transforming their projects into unique moving art pieces with nifty robots!
