🧩 Congratulations to everyone who competed in our 4-person division, and a huge congratulations to our first, second, and third place teams!

Our first and second place teams won a prize in addition to receiving a medal and a winner’s certificate!

Our two-person competition is in full swing both virtually and at the Mall of America and our Free-For-All division starts at 1:30 p.m. today! Don’t miss out on the action!

🌊AuSM is excited to be partnering with V3 Sports in hosting an Adaptive Swim Lesson Festival designed for children, teens and adults with autism, sensory needs, or motor challenges on Sunday, October 4.

Where: 📍V3 Sports Center 701 Plymouth Ave N, Minneapolis, MN 55411
When: Sunday, October 4
Sensory seekers swim from 1-2 p.m.
Students with physical disabilities or anxiety swim from 2:15-3:15 p.m.
Teens and adults swim from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Enjoy adaptive swim activities, water safety tips, and expert support in a welcoming environment. Each session that will be lead by V3 Staff. We will be joined by Cindy Freedman, an Occupational Therapist (MOTR) from Swim Angelfish who is a leading expert in aquatic therapy and adaptive swim lessons. Educators don't have to imagine how hard it is to struggle each day balancing classroom instruction, lesson planning, and trying to manage day to day because you live it every day. But, what can be hard for a lot of educators to imagine is what it's like to be in the education system as a disabled student who needs accommodations, and may be struggling due to the lack of systemic support that teachers are struggling to receive. Supporting disabled students IS possible all while having strategies to help you feel less overwhelmed, and our October workshop is going to teach you how!

Making Gen Ed Work for More Kids with IEPs was designed with you in mind; an educational workshop brought to you by someone who has both been in the shoes of a struggling student with disabilities whose teachers did not know how to support them, and now as a disabled educator who has served more than 1000 students with IEPs because they identified gaps in their own learning as they earned their Masters in Teaching. In this workshop, you will learn from one of the very best special educators in the country, Mash Makhlyagina, how to:

1. Identify common barriers to effective inclusion within general education settings and how these challenges impact both students and educators.

2. Apply planning strategies that reduce overwhelm and increase flexibility when responding to diverse learning needs.

3. Develop a sustainable mindset for inclusion that balances student support with educator capacity and well-being.

🧩Happy Puzzle Competition Week!

Our 9th annual Jigsaw Puzzle Competition is right around the corner and here are some things that you should know before you go:

1. Our schedule of events. New this year: our 4-Person and our 2-Person Divisions have switched times! Our 4-Person Division will kick off the event starting at 8:30-10:30 a.m. and our 2-Person Division will follow from 11 a.m.-1 p.m, with our Free-For-All Division ending the day from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

3. What you should know about our virtual competition: where it will take place, what time each division will start, who will be overseeing the competition, and how to win prizes!

We know that educators are hard-pressed to find time for learning and professional development during school hours, so we have two ways for you to participate in our October workshop:
1. Join us on Thursday, October 8th at 10AM for the live presentation and discussion with Mash.
2. Register for the workshop and receive the recording, allowing you to watch when the timing works for you.

Whichever way you choose to participate, your registration fee provides access to both the live workshop on Thursday, October 8th and the recording for one month following. This gives you the chance to participate in discussion with Mash and go back to the content later in case you missed parts of the presentation or were unable to attend live. In either format, you'll leave with fresh perspective and innovative ideas for balancing your own needs as an educator while best supporting your students!
