On Monday, August 21, the team at Twin Cities Catalyst Music discovered that all sound equipment and other items of value were stolen from The Treasury. This is an incredible financial—and emotional—blow.

Just last week, we announced that after almost two years of amazing shows at The Treasury, the venue is closing on October 31, 2023. This difficult decision was made after encountering issues that make the venue an unsustainable space for us in the long run. Now, due to the theft, we will need to end operations at The Treasury immediately. All shows scheduled at The Treasury in September and October have been moved to The Garage. If you have tickets to any of these shows, those are still valid, and we look forward to welcoming you into our space in Burnsville! If you currently have tickets and are unable to make it to our Burnsville venue, reach out to [email protected] for a refund.

The Treasury is the second all-ages, alcohol-free venue opened by us at Twin Cities Catalyst Music, a non-profit with the mission to provide young people with equitable access and opportunities in the Twin Cities music community. We are continuing this work from our original venue, The Garage in Burnsville, where we have been operating since 2015.

We have created a GoFundMe asking for community support to help us recover from this incident. We are aiming for $12,000 as that is the estimated total from the theft and damages. If you’d like to donate towards our mission in general, go to catalystmusic.org. Eastlake Craft Brewery is hosting a fundraiser for Twin Cities Catalyst Music on September 14 from 5-9pm, if you’d like to support in-person.

As a nonprofit, we appreciate your support. Thank you to our community on Payne Ave and the entire Twin Cities for supporting us these last few years. We’ve loved watching our music scene grow and sharing our passion for music with you all.

A message from the team at Twin Cities Catalyst Music: After almost two years of shows at The Treasury, we are closing our doors on October 31, 2023. We have enjoyed hosting bands and music fans in this venue, but have encountered issues that make this an unsustainable space for us in the long run. We have built strong partnerships with the community, and are dedicated to serving the east side of St. Paul.

We encourage all of the people who have supported us and your local music community at The Treasury to come visit us and see a show at The Garage! Follow us for more information:

All shows scheduled at The Treasury will continue as normal. Keep an eye out for a farewell event in October! If you’re a musician who would like to be involved in that show, send an email to [email protected].

There will be no Performers Meeting in September or October, but we will keep those events going in a different format at The Garage starting in November.

Thank you, fellow music lovers, for your support at The Treasury over the last couple of years. Thank you to the McNeely Foundation for supporting our work on the east side of St. Paul.
