I'm thrilled to announce our 2025 Scott W Hamilton Memorial Scholarship winners. These two remarkable young women bring the Scott Hamilton family of Scholars up to 10 since our founding in 2020!

Mya Nay Paw - a legacy winner - follows her sister's excellent example of sportsmanship, leadership and scholarship. Mya Nay intends to pursue a medical career. She aspires to become a doctor who can help communities get the healthcare and medical help they need and deserve and who understands the different cultures influences on health. We are so excited to be a small part of her amazing journey.

Lea Rushambale plans to study political science at the University of Minnesota on her path to pursuing a long term impact on her community. Lea intends to give back to Washington Tech and support students and student athletes in the long term. We can't wait to watch you thrive, Lea!

We also have the pleasure of announcing 2nd year payments to our 2024 Scholars: Martin, Margaret and Esmeralda who are all continuing to their sophomore years of college. It was SO fun to have Margaret, along with two other legacy Scott Hamilton Scholars Kahun Vue and Tay Moo Paw join us for Saturday's event.

As always, my sincerest thanks to the parents, coaches and student athletes who came together Saturday in celebration of our program and the Washington Tech Track and field family!

I’m thrilled to announce our three new members of the Scott W Hamilton family of Scholars. In 4 years, we have given 8 scholarships to honor the memory of our beloved Scott.
This year’s recipients are:

Esmeralda Xiong, who plans to attend the University of St Thomas in St Paul and hopes to major in Marketing (near and dear to my heart personally). Esmeralda credits her teammates for keeping her motivated to never give up even when the track workouts got really tough. She credits the program with teaching her grit that will serve her well in her studies and later in life.

Martial Pen who also plans to attend the University of St Thomas in St Paul, majoring in Business. Martial credits cross-country with teaching him to be comfortable, uncomfortable and how to push himself to achieve more outside of his comfort zone.

Margaret Fear who plans to attend Cornell University and study Archaeology. Margaret credit running on a team with teaching her how to stay determined and support others along the way. Margaret has made a healthy daily practice of running on her own and has found it instrumental in sorting through complex challenges she is facing.

In addition to these new scholars, we awarded a renewal to last year’s recipient Tay Moo Paw who is continuing her program at Metropolitan State.

Since 2020, we have added 5 athletes to our family of Scott Hamilton Scholars and hope to make our largest gift ever this year.
