Athletic Club hosts fundraisers and accepts donations in order to fulfill our mission. The Rice Street Athletic Club is a non-profit organization comprised of a diverse group of men and women of all ages, and includes people from all walks of life: coaches, professionals, and business leaders. They have a common goal:
to support youth activities and community events in Saint Paul’s North End. The
Rice Street A.C.s have been in existence for 59 years, having been incorporated in 1954. In 1953 a group of young men began planning this club that would encompass the North End area. The first official meeting took place at the Rice-Lawson Recreation Center. The A,C.s were originally formed to enable their members to directly participate in sports with other city wide area AC clubs. As time passed less playing occurred and the clubs close association with the neighborhood youth increased due to their ongoing role as coaches and instructors, and their sponsored clinics. This led to a change in the Club’s mission. A change that remains today: one of supporting and being directly involved in youth and community activities in the North End Community. Every spring the Club sponsors a baseball and softball clinic at Como Senior High School and Washington Magnet school. They sponsor a local VFW baseball team and a wide variety of other youth sports. Money to sponsor the Club’s many programs is achieved by various fundraisers throughout the year. These fundraisers allow the Club to support the many programs that they sponsor. Annual fundraisers for the public include:
The 1st Sunday in March is their largest fundraiser of the year, The Gold Plate Dinner at Mancini’s. In June they host a Taco Feed at Gabe’s by the Park. In July they participate in The Rice Street Festival. In September they sponsor a Steak and Fish Dinner at The Roseville VFW. In October they host a Spaghetti Dinner at St Bernard’s in the Parish Center. WATCH OUR “FACEBOOK” FOR NOTIFICATIONS OF FUNDRAISERS
