Cover crops like winter can be a valuable tool for both building and offering farmers an additional stream of income. Check out our new report which estimates that growing camelina can increase farm income by a net $40 per acre when integrated into corn/soy rotations. This analysis is part of MBOLD’s partnership with the University of Minnesota Twin Cities’s Forever Green Initiative to evaluate and build market opportunities for cover crops like camelina.

MBOLD is excited to share that our partner, Myplas USA, has been named “2023 Project of the Year” by the EDAM | Economic Development Association of Minnesota.

With investment from MBOLD members General Mills, Schwan's Company, Target, Ecolab and other stakeholders, Myplas USA will open a $24M state-of-the-art flexible film recycling plant in Rogers, Minnesota this summer. This is the first U.S. location for Myplas, which will create 270 green jobs at full capacity. Congrats to Myplas and everyone invited in bringing them to Minnesota.

This summer, MBOLD announced our initiative to create a for in the Upper Midwest. Our recycling partner, Myplas USA, has begun the build-out of a state-of-the-art film recycling plant in Rogers, MN, providing new, regionally appropriate opportunities to recycle pallet wrap, single-use shopping bags and many other film products. MBOLD members are looking at opportunities to increase film recycling and build demand for recycled resin in a range of packaging products. Our initiative has also gained national recognition by the Sustainable Packaging Coalition.

Now we’re pleased to share the latest in our video series highlighting perspectives from key members of the initiative. In this video, Peter Frosch, President & CEO of Greater MSP, explores how our initiative is advancing a new climate economy where strategies to reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions become baked into how our region does business.
