“I am sincerely humbled to have been selected to receive the 2026 Hamline University Beloved Community Award!
First, I want to thank Hamline University, the faculty, students and community there.
The whole presentation tonight was extraordinary. I want to personally thank Kareem and Molly for supporting my mission and inviting me to Hamline University. All of my work wouldn't have been possible without creator and my family. I am thankful to my amazing community members, mentors, and schools who always encouraged me to pursue my dreams. I will continue to help people in need and share that vision with the world. Again, I thank you!
“The Beloved Community” is a term that was first coined in the early days of the 20th Century by the philosopher-theologian Josiah Royce, who founded the Fellowship of Reconciliation. However, it was Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., also a member of the Fellowship of Reconciliation, who popularized the term and invested it with a deeper meaning which has captured the imagination of people of goodwill all over the world.
