While NSIF team was in Thailand, NSIF was able to give 144 bags of goodies to a remote Hmong Village located four hours from Chiang Rai, Thailand. Each bag contains tooth brushes, tooth paste, salt, sweet drinks, water bottle, noodles, fish canned, and sweets.

In December 2022, some of our staff were able to visit the two water wells and the bathroom that were being built back in April 2022. They are all completed now and can be used. The community there has been using the water for farming, cooking and personal use.

The well will not only provide clean water for the temple and nearby migrants, but also to displaced people seeking refuge in Thailand during a battle on the Myanmar side. The well will ensure that people will get clean water while seeking shelter near the temple.

Upon hearing the monk and villagers express gratitude for the well, we realized that our actions went beyond mere responsibility, as the monk remarked that the well would supply clean water to the community for generations to come.

While NSIF's team were visiting the two villages in Karen State, we asked the villagers what is the most important thing they need to sustain themselves?. The people replied "Nothing is more important than mosquito nets, because more people get sick from malaria than other diseases here". The villagers believed that mosquito nets are the number one way to help prevent malaria and mosquito bites at night.

In order to help prevent mosquito bites at night, NSIF provided a mosquito net to all 80 households so they can sleep well at night. The smiles on their face proves how important mosquito nets are to them. NSIF will continue to live up to their value and mission by helping those in need.

In the Spring NSIF visited two villages and provided basic needs such as food, and hygiene products. While we were there, we saw that the schools had a few benches for desks and some worn out posters on the wall. The schools did not have any basic school supplies for the teachers or the students.

They say education is the key to world, but education can not happen if you do not have the most basic materials such as a pen and a paper. The teachers can not teach because they do not even have markers or boards to write on. The students can not learn or retain what they've learned because they do not have pencils and papers to write with.

As the teachers have requested, NSIF provided a new white board for each school along with a year worth of other school supplies such as notebooks, pencils, pen, crayons, markers, and etc.

These children are the future, and NSIF will continue to help nourish these children and provide as much as we can for them.
