Guatemala Friends of the Saint Paul Area Synod Guatemala Friends supports the ministries of the Iglesia Luterana Agustina de Guatemala (ILAG). The ILAG has more than 2,000 members in 18 congregations.

We walk with the Iglesia Luterana Agustina de Guatemala (Augustinian Lutheran Church of Guatemala), building relationships through prayer, presence and projects. Since 2005, the Saint Paul Area Synod has enjoyed a companion synod partnership with the Augustinian Lutheran Church of Guatemala. The church also operates an elementary school, Colegio Luterano Agustino de Guatemala (CLAG), in Guatemala City, serving 100 students. Through visiting companions, receiving the pastoral team as guests, prayerful support, supporting projects, and living through the values of accompaniment, companions on every end of the partnership have grown more deeply into faith. We invite you to learn more about the companionship and join us as we walk together.

What a blessing for our companionship to have Pastor Karen Castillo here for the synod's Bishop Installation Service last week! She brought a greeting from the Iglesia Luterana Agustina de Guatemala (ILAG) and presented the crozier (the symbol of the office of bishop) to Bishop Justin Grimm during the service. The crozier was made by a pastor in the synod and with wood from Guatemala, Tanzania and Minnesota. We look forward to Pastor Karen's quick return in early October for our gala!
