The Rising Star Foundation was founded in 2017 by singer/songwriter and nationally recognized motivational speaker, Kat Perkins. Kat grew up in the rural area of North Dakota with a dream to perform in front of a live audience ever since she could talk. Living in the area where performance opportunities were limited, Kat understands how location can constrain the dreams of young adults who want to
make a career in music. At the age of 17, Kat attended a camp that changed her life and outlook on the music industry as a career, while also helped to define her approach to follow her dreams of performing. After many years of highs and lows being in the performance spotlight at a professional level, including a run on season 6 of NBC's The Voice that landed her a spot in the semi finals, Kat is ready to give back and provide a platform that will allow people of all ages to become involved in music. The Rising Star Foundation promises to guide aspiring musicians by providing an environment in which they will learn techniques to strive, express themselves, and grow as artists.
