On a recent trip to South Sudan, we had the privilege of seeing the power of mutually transformative relationships and multiplication firsthand.
Last summer, two Emotional Trauma Healing trainings took place, one led by a U.S. team and another multiplied and led by a local pastor. From those trainings, healing groups began to form.
This year, we returned to follow up.
What we found was far more than a program. We found people faithfully walking alongside one another through grief, trauma, healing, and hope. We witnessed local leaders serving their communities with compassion and courage. And as we listened, learned, prayed, and sat together under the shade of a tree, we were reminded that ministry is never one-directional.
We came to encourage, but we left encouraged.
This is how God often works. One person helps another feel loved, known, and seen. That person then extends the same love to someone else. And the impact continues to multiply far beyond what any of us could accomplish alone.
The beautiful people of South Sudan reminded us once again that transformation happens through relationships, and that when God is at work, everyone involved is changed.
