To neighbors who need it most, we provide emergency financial assistance, fresh food, and support for children and seniors. 501(c)3, Non-Profit Community Ministry, composed ecumenically of ten congregations & parishes of all traditions. 🔆VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT🔆

Meet our awesome Spring/Summer Interns!

Eva C. (seen here assisted by her wonderful sister Alex) also assisted Nicki this summer, serving as a Development Intern. She boldly cold-called area businesses soliciting donations for our silent auction, drove around town picking up confirmed donations, and also worked in the Kids Zone at the Pool Party, entertaining kids at the Poster Coloring and Bracelet-Making Stations. She has been a real asset to our team! Thank you, Eva!

Eva Kate D. served as a Marketing & Publicity Intern this summer, working with Nicki to spread the word about our summer events. She went door to door through St. Matthews distributing flyers to businesses and golf courses for our Pool Party and Golf Classic. She also was one of the wonderful welcoming faces who greeted our guests at Pool Party registration. We so appreciate her can-do attitude and sunny disposition! Thank you, EK!

Kennedy S. has been dutifully working as a Pantry Intern for the past year, ably and joyfully tackling any organization or inventory project Suzanne or Julie throws at her. Her real shining moment, however was starring as our most fabulous mermaid at the St. MAM Pool Party. She is an absolute gem, and we are grateful to have as a part of St. MAM. Thank you, Kennedy, aka Sparkles the Mermaid! You rock.

Mack L. served as a Development Intern this summer, assisting with Nicki with launching our silent auction, updating fundraising records, and working St. MAM Week at St. Matthews Baseball and the Tiki Bar of the St. MAM Pool Party. Anyone who knows Mack will tell you that in addition to being a person of great character, he is far beyond his years in maturity. We love having him as a part of our team! Thank you, Mack!

Last month St. MAM began fulfilling an exciting goal on our horizon:

👉To help families of all income levels take advantage of the incredible resources for kids that St. Matthews has to offer.👈

We are thrilled to share that we have provided full scholarships for 4 youth and partial scholarships for 3 teens to play in St. Matthews Baseball's fall season! That's 7 kids on the diamond who otherwise would not have gotten to play. Great stuff, right?

🚍 New Kentucky school bus stop law is now in effect!

Drivers must now stop in all lanes and in both directions, including on:

Four-lane roads with a center turn lane
Highways that are not divided by a physical barrier or unpaved median

The only exception is when you're traveling in the opposite direction on a roadway with four or more lanes that is separated by an elevated barrier or an unpaved median.

Know before you go

Passing a stopped school bus is dangerous and illegal. Drivers who fail to stop can face:

$300 finefor a first offense
$500 finefor each additional offense within three years
Slowing down and stopping for school buses helps protect children as they get on and off the bus. A few extra seconds can make all the difference.
