St. Marys Sister Cities Japan St. Marys-Awaji City Sister Cities is a Sister City Exchange program in West Central Ohio. Almost every year, Awaji City and St.

For many decades, Saint Marys, Ohio, and communities from Awaji Island, Japan [now called Awaji City] have fostered trips and cultural exchange between the two communities. Marys each send a delegation of about 10-15 youth to each other's city for about a week, in the hopes of fostering cultural understanding and building international relationships.
