Elk County Humane Society The Elk County Humane Society is dedicated to finding the perfect home for every homeless animal in Elk County, Pennsylvania.

The Elk County Humane Society was formed in order to help homeless animals of Elk County, Pennsylvania by a group of animal lovers. Our 501(c)(3) tax exemption status was applied for and granted in 2001. We operated, with the help of foster homes, until 2007 when the shelter was completed. Donations from foundations, corporations, organizations and individuals enabled us to build the Elk County Humane Society with much of the work being donated also. The shelter has 24 dog kennels and 44 cat pens, a puppy room and a medical room. We continue to seek to improve the lives of homeless animals in any way possible and hope to do so for many, many years to come. All this has been made possible by the endless support of our community through donations and our wonderful volunteers. We cannot thank everyone enough for that continued support.

LOST DOG! A shelter dog, Shirley, escaped from a volunteer this afternoon and should still be in the East Eschbach area of St. Marys. She is a spayed female, Chihuahua/Min-Pin mix of about 3 years of age. Shirley is extremely friendly, but not used to be leash walked. She still has her leash attached. If found please return her to the shelter or give us a call at (814) 834-3247.

R***r is a 6 yr old German short hair pointer. He is up to date on vaccines tested negative for heartworm and tick diseases. He is scheduled to be neutered October 20. He likes other dogs and kids but really has the drive to chase cats. So a no cat home is best for him.
If you are interested in him you can fill out an application online

HELP NYMERIA!

Nymeria needs your help!! She has been at the shelter for almost 2 years! (Two years in November). Nymeria is a spayed female kitty around 4 years old. She came to the shelter as a stray. There has been little to no adoption interest in Nymeria. She is a sweet little kitty that enjoys playing and adventuring. Nymeria could spend all day supervising her home from the top of a tall cat tree! She does however need to be the only pet.

Clementine is a female kitty around 6-7 years old. She came into the shelter as a stray and was not claimed. Clementine is a wonderful little kitty that is very loving. We believe she could adjust to other animals in a home. Clementine would do best in a quiet home where she can be relaxed!
