If you have an interest in the Data Center discussion, join us in St. Marys on June 3 for a community conversation. Here are some of the issues:

-Water Consumption
-Water Contamination
-Utility Rates
-Transparency of the Process
-Roads
-Jobs
-Housing
-Noise
-Light
-Financial Impact

We’re cohosting a Community Conversation on data centers with Kaw Valley Chamber of Commerce and you’re invited.

📅 June 3rd
📍 Armory in St. Marys
🕒 7pm

Data center development has quickly become one of the most talked-about—and yes, sometimes controversial—topics in our region. There are strong opinions on all sides, and for good reason.

This conversation isn’t about pushing a project forward or shutting one down. It’s about making sure our community is informed, prepared, and part of the discussion.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

• What a data center is (and isn’t)
• The potential benefits—investment, tax base, infrastructure
• The potential costs—land use, utilities, long-term impacts
• How the process works—what decisions are local, what’s set at the state level, and when the public has input

Most importantly, we’ll talk about this:

Our region is in the driver’s seat.

No project moves forward without local consideration, local input, and local decision-making.

If you’ve been curious, skeptical, supportive, or just want to learn more—this is the place to start.

We hope you’ll join us for a thoughtful, fact-based conversation.

The Kaw Valley Chamber of Commerce was mentioned in an article about the proposed data center. Some of the the Chamber board members have been working diligently to take a leadership role in getting to the FACTS and does not have a position of support or opposition to the proposal.

- The headline is misleading and does not reflect the contents of the article or the position of the Chamber. (click bait)

This private message has been sent to the Editor, but since they have not responded, we are posting it here for clarity:

Dear Ms. [name of editor],
The article that was published today about the prospective data centers in Pott Co has a headline that is inaccurate and misleading. I am hoping this was due to a rush to publish before the holiday weekend, and does not reflect your editorial standards.

The article itself is fine, but I must insist, in the strongest terms, that you modify the headline. My suggestion would be something like:

Chamber leader encourages detailed evaluation of data center impact...or something along those lines.

Thank you for your immediate consideration before the weekend.

Sincerely,
Chris Johnson
President
Kaw Valley Chamber of Commerce

Data Center - On May 19, at the St. Marys city commission meeting, a resident presented and read a list of 12 questions related primarily to water and the proposed data center.

The importance of the water question can not be overstated - thank you for taking the time to compile these questions. We asked the developer of the project to answer these specific questions.

Thank you to Beltline Energy for taking these concerns seriously and answering the questions.

Here is a link to their response with the original questions.
