SJRM WILL NOT RETURN IN 2015
Throughout the past four years, the St. Joe River Marathon has donated thousands of dollars to local charities, ensuring that all money earned from our event went back into our community.
We have enjoyed being involved in the St. Maries community through charitable outreach and as an early-summer staple on racing calendars. The event has been something our volunteers have looked forward to each year the race has been put together.
Which makes this announcement all the harder.
Due to decreased participation by both runners and volunteers, the St. Joe River Marathon will not return for a 2015 race. In fact, it is doubtful if the event will return anytime in the future. Thank you to everyone, racers and volunteers, who have helped to make our race a success.
And make no mistake, the St. Joe River Marathon has been a success.
In addition to being a fundraising event, the SJRM was developed as a way to introduce people to our area. Since its inaugural run in 2011, runners from more than 25 states have visited St. Maries, Idaho to participate in our event.
Though we are saddened to have to make this announcement, we are also proud of what the SJRM has accomplished, and we appreciate all of the support from our sponsors, our community and the runners who participated, near and far.
Thank you.
