Our Women's Sailing class rocked it out on the lake Thursday evening, demonstrating smooth, controlled tacks, confident close-quarters maneuvering, and effective sail trim as they sailed around the buoys in a fresh breeze. The growth in confidence and skill between the first week and the last was not only obvious but super cool to see. Congratulations, ladies! Sail on!

Two Generations, One Boat

SJJF and the St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center joined forces for United Way of Southwest Michigan's annual Rock the Boat campaign yesterday, July 16, pairing decades of experience with youthful energy to build and race "Stars & Stripes"—a tribute to the yacht that won back the 1987 America's Cup in Fremantle, Australia.

Design and construction began with a team of engineers and woodworkers from the St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center, with cardboard donated by Menasha Corp.

Two members of the St. Joseph River Yacht Club provided waterproofing and painting.

SJJF instructors Summer and Emmet paddled Stars & Stripes to 1st in their first heat, and a finish in the middle of the pack for the final heat. Special thanks to St. Joseph-Lincoln Senior Center. Go Team!
