Members of local law enforcement agencies will gather to honor and remember personnel killed in the line of duty in Northwest Missouri at a special service during National Police Week.

The National Police Week Memorial Service will begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, at the Northwest Missouri Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Civic Center Park on the south side of City Hall at 1100 Frederick Avenue.

Brendan McGinnis, a detective with the St. Joseph Police Department and president of Northwest Missouri FOP Lodge #3, will speak at the event.

The event is sponsored by Northwest Missouri FOP Lodge #3. Members of the Saint Joseph, Missouri Police Department, Buchanan County Missouri Sheriff, Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop H and other Northwest Missouri agencies will participate in the ceremony. Families of fallen heroes and members of the public who wish to show support for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the community are invited to attend.

In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved inside City Hall.

The 2026 National Police Week is May 11 through 17.
