600 more volunteers. Every senior deserves to know they matter.

This is our final push! Registration for Rake a Difference closes Friday, October 16, and we still need 600 volunteers to help ensure no senior is left waiting.

On November 12, volunteers across Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties will rake leaves, clear gutters and help local seniors who can no longer manage this work on their own.

It’s more than raking leaves. It’s showing someone they matter.

Can you join us? Register by Friday at RakeADifference.com. Every volunteer counts!

Registration closes this Friday, October 16, and we still need 600 volunteers to help ensure no senior is left waiting for a helping hand.

Across Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties, 350 seniors have signed up for Rake a Difference. Nearly half are on the waitlist, waiting to find out if a team will come to help them prepare their yards for winter.

You can be the reason a senior isn't left waiting.

Gather your coworkers, friends, family, church or community group and join us Thursday, November 12, to rake leaves, bag them and help local seniors who can no longer do the work themselves.

Teams of all sizes are welcome, and traveling to where the need is greatest helps us reach even more seniors.

Don't wait! Register your team by Friday at rakeadifference.com.

Let's show our senior neighbors they haven't been forgotten.

Yesterday, United Way of Southwest Michigan gathered with our nonprofit community partners to listen, exchange ideas and explore how we can strengthen our community together.

We discussed changing funding realities, our continued commitment to neighbors struggling to afford basic needs, and new opportunities for United Way to support local organizations and the people they serve.

Thank you to our partners for your honesty, insight and dedication to Southwest Michigan. Your voices and experiences help shape what comes next as we work together to address today’s challenges and build a stronger, more resilient community for the future.

Sometimes, the best reminder of why we Rake A Difference comes from the seniors we’ve had the privilege of helping.

That’s what Rake A Difference is all about. A few hours of your time can mean so much to a senior who may not be able to tackle fall yard work on their own. This year, we have seniors waiting for teams to show up and make a difference.

Join us on November 12 and Rake A Difference in the life of a local senior. Register your team at rakeadifference.com.

Last Friday, October 9, David and his crew from Wolverine Pipeline showed what it means to show up for your community.

Partnering with Meals on Wheels of SW Michigan, the team rolled up their sleeves to help a 101-year-old senior, with much-needed work around her home. From clearing brush and leaves to tackling outdoor maintenance, their hard work provided more than a helping hand. It gave this senior and her family some much-needed support and relief.

Your workplace can make a difference, too! Whether it's a team volunteer day, supporting a local nonprofit, or lending your team's unique skills, there are many ways to give back to the community.

Through Volunteer United, our team helps connect businesses, groups, and individuals with meaningful volunteer opportunities across Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren counties.

Ready to make a difference with your team? Connect with Maria and Morgan at VolunteerUnited.com or call 269-934-3736 to find an opportunity that's right for you!

Seniors are registered. Teams are forming. Now we need you.

On November 12, volunteers will head into neighborhoods across Southwest Michigan to rake leaves, bag them and help local seniors get their yards ready for winter.

We're especially looking for volunteers in Cass and Van Buren counties. If you can bring a few people and give a few hours, there's a senior who could use your help.

Grab a team. Rake a yard. Rake A Difference.

St. Joseph Public Schools was one of our 2026 Pacesetter organizations, helping kick off this year’s United Way campaign with a strong showing of support from their employees.

As a thank-you to everyone who participated in the campaign, participants were entered into a drawing for some fun prizes. And Jenna Francis was their lucky winner of a Matte White KitchenAid Artisan Stand Mixer!

Thank you, Jenna, and thank you to everyone at St. Joseph Public Schools who chose to give back and help strengthen our community through United Way. Learn how you can start a campaing at your workplace, visit: uwsm.org/hold-a-fundraiser
