👁️ More than 1,200 bottles of eye drops — and every one needs to be checked.
Eye drops are an important part of our medical missions, from surgery through recovery. Recently, we received a donation of more than 1,200 bottles, which meant a pretty impressive sorting project for longtime VOI volunteer Jeannette Cooke.
Before supplies can be packed for a mission, each bottle must be carefully reviewed to determine what can safely and appropriately be used. It’s detailed, behind-the-scenes work, often unseen, but it helps make every surgery possible.
And if you look behind that very full table, you’ll see even more of that behind-the-scenes work. Those shelves hold medical supplies kept on hand for upcoming missions, carefully organized and maintained by Denise and Jeannette so our teams can prepare what they need for each trip.
While 1,200 bottles looks like a lot gathered in one place, supplies like eye drops are continually used and replenished as our teams travel to restore sight around the world.
We’re incredibly grateful for the donated supplies — and for volunteers like Jeannette who give their time to sort, organize, prepare, pack, and help turn a room full of medical supplies into sight-restoring care. 💙
